Frequently Asked Questions

Find answers to common questions about the CyberEco platform

General Questions

What is CyberEco?

CyberEco is a human-centered digital ecosystem for conscious, connected, and sustainable living. We build applications that help you manage shared finances, engage with communities, and connect with others in meaningful ways — all on a foundation of digital sovereignty and privacy.

Is CyberEco free to use?

Yes. Everything currently available in the Hub is free, and the data layer packages are open source (Apache-2.0). We believe in providing accessible tools for everyone. Optional premium features may be introduced in the future to support platform development, but core features will remain free.

How does CyberEco protect my privacy?

Privacy is built into the architecture, not added as an afterthought. Permissions are checked on every data operation, your data is encrypted in transit and at rest, and you keep complete control: you can export your data at any time and request its deletion whenever you want. We never sell your information to third parties. Client-side encryption is on our roadmap.

What applications are currently available?

Today the CyberEco Hub is live: your account, identity, privacy controls, and built-in expense sharing (the evolution of JustSplit). Somos (family roots), Demos (community governance), and Plantopia (smart gardening) are planned as the ecosystem grows.

How can I start using CyberEco?

Create a free account on the Hub, then explore your dashboard. From there you can manage your profile and privacy settings and start splitting expenses with friends right away.

What does digital sovereignty mean?

It means your data belongs to you, not to apps. Every data type supports export and deletion, and there is no vendor lock-in to any provider — including us. Applications act as lenses on data you own, rather than silos that trap it.

Account & Security

What is Single Sign-On (SSO)?

Your CyberEco Hub account is a single identity for the whole ecosystem. Sign in once and access every application connected to the Hub — including third-party apps that integrate through our OAuth flow — without creating separate accounts.

How do I enable two-factor authentication?

Two-factor authentication is coming soon — it is not available to enable yet. When it ships you will be able to set it up under Security > Two-Factor Authentication using an authenticator app such as Google Authenticator or Authy. We will let you know when it is ready.

I forgot my password. What should I do?

Use the “Forgot Password” link on the sign-in page. We will send a secure reset link to your registered email address.

How secure is my data?

We use industry-standard encryption in transit and at rest, secure authentication, strict security headers, rate limiting, and immutable audit logs. Every data operation goes through a permission check — access is never assumed.

Can I see which devices and sessions are signed in?

Active session management is coming soon. You can already review recent account activity and immutable audit logs in the Security section. When session management ships you will be able to see every device signed in to your account and revoke any you do not recognize. In the meantime, changing your password ends other sessions.

What happens to my data if I delete my account?

We honor your right to erasure. One-click self-service deletion is coming soon; until then, email info@cybere.co from your account address to request deletion. Your personal data is then permanently removed from our servers within 30 days. Some anonymized usage data may be retained to improve our services.

Privacy & Your Data

How do I export my data?

Open My Data in the Hub. You can download all of your data in standard formats (JSON, CSV) at any time — for backup, or to take it somewhere else. Your data is yours.

Who owns my data?

You do. Data belongs to users, not apps — it is the first tenet of the platform. Apps in the ecosystem are lenses on data you own, and you can export it whenever you want and request its deletion at any time.

Is CyberEco GDPR compliant?

Yes. GDPR compliance is built into the platform: data export, account deletion, consent management, and audit trails are core features rather than legal checkboxes.

Technical Questions

Which browsers are supported?

CyberEco works on all modern browsers, including Chrome, Firefox, Safari, and Edge. For the best experience, we recommend keeping your browser updated to the latest version.

Are mobile apps available?

Not yet. The Hub is a responsive web application that works well in mobile browsers on iOS and Android. Native mobile apps are not currently available.

Can I use CyberEco offline?

Not yet — an internet connection is required for most features today. Offline-first operation is a core design goal of our data layer, and full offline support with sync is on the roadmap.

Can I access CyberEco APIs?

Yes. The Hub exposes a REST API, and the Developer Portal lets you register your own applications and integrate through OAuth. See the documentation site for the full API reference.

How do I change the language or theme?

The Hub supports English and Spanish, and light and dark themes. You can change both in Settings; the theme follows your system preference by default.

Expense Sharing

How does expense splitting work?

Create an expense group, add members and expenses, and the Hub automatically calculates balances — who owes what to whom. You can split equally, by percentage, or with exact amounts.

What currencies are supported?

Each expense group has its own currency. USD, EUR, GBP, MXN, CAD, ARS, COP, BRL, and JPY are currently supported, with more currencies and conversion support planned.

How do I settle up with friends?

The Hub tracks balances but does not move money. After paying through your preferred method (bank transfer, cash, PayPal, etc.), record a settlement and the balances update automatically.

Can I organize expenses into groups or events?

Yes. Expense groups keep trips, households, or events separate — each with its own members, expenses, currency, and balances.

What is JustSplit?

JustSplit was CyberEco’s original expense-sharing app, and it proved that useful software does not need to exploit its users. Its features now live inside the Hub as the built-in Expenses experience.

Billing

How much does it cost?

Everything currently available in the Hub is free. In the future, optional premium features may help sustain development — with clear pricing and no hidden fees. Core features will stay free.

Do I need a credit card to sign up?

No. There is nothing to pay for today, and we do not collect any payment details.

Community & Support

How can I contribute to CyberEco?

CyberEco's data layer is open source (Apache-2.0) and community-driven. You can contribute code, improve documentation, help translate, or report issues — visit our Community page and the GitHub organization to get started.

Where do I report bugs or request features?

Open an issue on GitHub. Well-described issues help us prioritize and fix things faster.

How do I contact support?

CyberEco is community-supported. Email info@cybere.co or open a GitHub issue. For general inquiries, write to info@cybere.co — see the Contact page for all channels.

What should I do if I find a security issue?

Email info@cybere.co directly. Please do not open a public GitHub issue for security vulnerabilities.
