Privacy & Security Settings
Privacy is the default in CyberEco — permissions are checked on every operation. This guide covers every control you can adjust yourself.
Privacy-First by Design
Data Minimization
Only the data needed for functionality is collected — analytics are opt-in, not opt-out by burial.
Privacy by Default
Permissions are checked on every operation, never assumed. There are no open collections.
User Control
You decide what to share and for how long — and you can export or delete everything at any time.
The Privacy Settings Page
Sign in and open Privacy Settings to adjust these four controls, then press "Save Privacy Settings"
A single toggle controls whether you share anonymous usage data to help improve CyberEco. Leave it off if you'd rather not — nothing else depends on it.
Controls whether anonymized data may be shared with partner services. Keep this off unless you specifically want features that depend on it.
Choose who can see your profile: Private (only you), Friends (people you connect with), or Public (anyone on CyberEco). If in doubt, start with Private or Friends.
Decide how long your data is kept: 6 months, 1 year, 2 years, or "until I delete it". Shorter retention means less history; "until I delete it" leaves cleanup entirely in your hands.
The Security Page
Monitor and manage account security from the Security section
Two-Factor Authentication
The 2FA page walks through setup with an authenticator app (Google Authenticator, Authy, and similar) and backup codes. Authenticator setup is still rolling out — check the page for current availability.
Active Sessions
See the devices and browsers signed in to your account, and revoke a single session — or all of them — if something looks unfamiliar.
Security Activity
Review recent security events and audit logs for your account so you can spot anything unexpected early.
Your Data Rights
Three rights, three places, all self-service
Export
Download a complete copy of your data in JSON or CSV from the My Data page — instantly, no waiting period.
Correction
Update your personal information anytime from the Profile page. Changes take effect immediately.
Deletion
Permanently delete your data from the My Data page. This cannot be undone — export a copy first.
Privacy Best Practices
- Use a strong, unique password — the sign-up strength meter should read "Strong".
- Review your privacy settings every few months as your needs change.
- Only share what a feature actually needs; keep third-party sharing off by default.
- Check Active Sessions occasionally and revoke anything you don't recognize.
- Keep your devices locked and your browser up to date.
